Recently, the adverse health effects of lead exposure have been regularly making national headlines and public concern is appropriately growing. The highly toxic substance is most commonly found in the lead paint that is common in many of our nation’s older homes. It is painfully clear, from hundreds of medical studies and tests that this is a major concern that plagues our older homes and communities, most significantly impacting our youngest most vulnerable individuals across the state. The long term effects of lead poisoning are not reversible at this time. This is why lead testing is perhaps our most important work of all.
Alone or as an integrated component of a housing program, highly accurate, non-invasive lead measurement called “XRF” is performed by state-certified lead risk assessors utilizing state-of-the-art equipment. Able to work with both HUD and state imposed lead regulations, CGP&H provides all of the services required of successful testing and abatement. Results can be made available almost immediately.
The team features certified Lead Inspectors/Risk Assessors who have been trained through the National Asbestos Environmental Training Institute and the New Jersey Department of Health. Owning the testing equipment enables inspectors to schedule assessments without delay and enables CGP&H to seamlessly incorporate the testing into existing housing programs.
In addition to lead risk assessments and clearance tests, CGP&H develops straight-forward educational campaigns that heighten community awareness of lead hazards and increase contractor-certification which in turn enables local contractors to safely complete renovations and construction in homes that contain identified lead hazards.
